Sanctuary city facing possible DOJ subpoena

Today the Justice Department has threatened to subpoena 23 jurisdictions if they do not reveal their policies for sanctuary cities. The Department of justice sent letters numerous cities including Chicago, New York and San Francisco demanding records relating to whether or not these cities are unlawfully blocking information sharing by law enforcement with federal immigration authorities.

Many Democratic mayors gave wild responses to the letter they received from the DOJ. New York city Mayor Bill de Blasio said he would boycott a planned meeting with President Trump on Wednesday, calling the letter a racist assault.

The White House is still holding the Wednesday meeting with any mayors who decide to show up. The letter sent out by the DOJ state that failing to respond will be subject to a subpoena.
