Government shutdown, Rand Paul is stalling

As of Thursday evening, it looks like a government shutdown is likely to happen.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY has delayed consideration of a bipartisan budget package to keep the government open past midnight.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer struck a deal which Rand Paul objected to repeatedly.

Rand Paul’s objection could delay a final Senate vote until 1 a.m. Friday which is past the deadline to keep the government open.

Rand Paul said he was asking for a recorded vote on reversing the bill’s spending increases.
