Paratroopers Replacing Marines at US Embassy in Baghdad

The 100 or so Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response Marines who were sent to beef up security at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad due to rising tensions in the region, will be replaced by the 82nd Airborne’s Immediate Response Force Brigade. The exact number of soldiers and when they’ll arrive at the embassy has not been released due to operational security. The Army unit is currently in Kuwait where the majority of the soldiers will remain. There are currently close to 5,200 American troops deployed to Iraq.
